American Legion Riders
American Legion Riders is an American Legion Program at the American Legion Post Level reporting directly to the Post Commander, and has Advisors at the District, Division, and State Levels. Chapters are formed by active American Legion program members who ride motorcycles and with the approval and oversight of the Post Commander.
American Legion Riders chapters are well known for their charitable work, which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for local children’s hospitals, schools, veterans homes, severely wounded servicemembers, and scholarships. Riders are members of the American Legion, Sons of American Legion, or the American Legion Auxiliary.
Chapter 309 operates out of the Greater Helotes community. Our mission is to help veterans and active-duty military and their families regardless of their status. We partner with other veteran organizations whose missions are also veteran support-centric. We are an all-volunteer organization and rely exclusively on the generosity of the residents and businesses within the greater Helotes area through their support of our fundraising efforts. You’ll see us at Helotes Market Days and other city events such as Cornyval, Helotes’ Veterans Day, and Memorial Day concerts. We also participate in Wreaths Across America by escorting the tractor-trailer loads of veteran wreaths to the Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery and coordinate and participate in the laying of veteran wreaths during Wreaths Across America Day. Volunteers are welcome to join us in this solemn endeavor.
